I teach In Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and the surrounding area.
Be patient with people and try to put yourself in their shoes. I deal with a lot of people who are trying to cope with back pain, and have lost confidence in their body and how it moves. Also in a class situation, be friendly and encouraging, as for some people, they have taken a massive step just to get there. Also keep learning, keep researching and network with other professionals.
For me personally, I love mid back series on the reformer. it makes me feel stronger, preferably doing it under the watchful eye of another pilates instructor.
I Started in the fitness industry about 25 years ago teaching aerobics, but stopped after about 5 years and got a job in sales. After a few years I realised it wasn't for me and qualified as a personal trainer. I started work in a large gym as fitness instructor, built up my client list, and eventually went freelance. In 2004, I became intrigued by Pilates, and decided to qualify and have never looked back. Pilates for me professionally has been the best thing Ihave ever qualified in.
Move more, nourish your body and believe in yourself.
At the moment I am looking for studio space where I can teach Pilates, barre and train my PT clients, so hopefully that will be still going strong in 5 years. I intend to keep studying always as there is so much to learn in our industry.
I'm 39 years old and I live in Aberdeenshire Scotland with my husband Ben and our children, Ava 10 and Max 7, along with our Bichon Poodle Louie 4. I have a great passion for sharing the many wonderful benefits Pilates can bring.View instructor >
Pilates has been my lifeline since 1986 when I was asked to join the staff of the St. Francis Hospital's Dance Medicine Division where Pilates primarily started in the San Francisco Bay Area. I went on to become an Exercise Physiologist and a Doctor of Physical Therapy. I got into Pilates after a fall in a performance that set my spine off. It took years to sort out and Pilates has not only kept me from becoming disabled but drove me to places I never dreamed would be possible. My passion is especially Spinal Asymmetry and I am appreciative to my friend and mentor Elizabeth Larkham for introducing me to the publishers at Handspring Publishing. My book just came out last fall and I am now busy teaching throughout the US, UK and Asia to spread the word!View instructor >
