I really emphasise awareness in all of my sessions and make sure that people are kinaesthetically aware of their habitual patterns before I ask them to change any thing. Moshe Feldenkrais said “You have to know what you are doing in order to do what you want”
I have been teaching fitness of some variety since 1988. As a much younger woman I taught high impact aerobics, a little older, low impact aerobics, older still, aqua aerobics. All through those years I taught yoga. I was introduced to the Pilates method in 1993 and practice it for years until certifying in 2003 (PMA 2008). In 2006 I took a Feldenkrais class and was immediately struck by how applicable so much of that method could benefit the practice of EVERY form of exercise. Now, as a PMA certified Pilates instructor AND Guild certified Feldenkrais practitioner I travel to fitness conference worldwide and introduce Feldenkrais principles to Pilates, Yoga and all types of fitness instructors. I consider it an amazing gift that I can not only do what I love, but share it with others.
